Talking The Uber Mesmer Trio

Just want to share this story with you all...I used to feel mesmers weren't that good. How wrong I was. After realising how powerful a mesmer could be, such as fighting Shiro'ken Mesmers & Jade Brotherhood Mesmers, I decided to try out as a mesmer. Man, it felt SO good! Just the satifcation you get when you interrupt someone is fantastic - especially when the Afflicted Ritualists start using 'Flesh of my Flesh' - Dirty Ritualists...

Anyhow...I got into a team of three mesmers yesterday... We toddled to Tahnnakai Temple and got a group together for the mission. No real tank to speak of, and no elementalist, but we thought, "what the hell", let's try. We 'pwnd' all the constructs first time. There was a lot of interrupting going on that day - enemies were just dropping like flies. Maybe I'm bias...but I reckon it was the awesomeness of the mesmers that got us through! I'm happy now - Mesmer was a fine choice for a profession...

End of story!

I approve of this story

Mesmers in some numbers are devastating, so long as they don't overlap too much. Though especially in PvE, a combination of heavy degen, dom damage, and interrupts is mighty.

It's not just Tahnnakai Temple, mesmers can conquer it all.

I have joined all mesmer events from the other forum and we pretty much steamroll anything we want... Sorrow's Furnance, Lornar's Pass, Zin Ku Corridor, Unwaking Waters, Vizunah Square, the list goes on

Cheers you guys! I didn't know if I'd get told off for creating a fairly useless thread - but I see it as a way for us all to express our love for the finer things in Guild Wars - namely Mesmers. I feel honoured that my story is approved!

Welcome child, you have seen the light.

Grats though, I hope others try Mesmers to find out how fun they are.

Same like Avarre said (just checking Mesmers united for farming thread, The Deep, Fow, etc). I'm glad you're fine for it

That make me thinking to make a mesmers team for Cathan's Missions for fun btw. You all ( almost all) did about Prophecies missions, I wish to try it in Faction thought.

Keep the Mesmer love flowing

Funny story....I started GW back in November and created a Mesmer. My two buddies that had been playing since GW was released both told me "Mesmers are the worst class in the game, you don't want to play them". These statements just fueled my desire to play a Mes. I basically henched my way through to the Desert with a little help from my buddies at time. This was before I discovered Guru so all of my builds were skills I through together and learned what was good and bad through trial and error.

One day I'm getting ready to run Thirsty with henchies and my one buddy gets on and I ask him if he wants to join me. He states Thirsty is really hard to do with henchies because of the monk boss at the end, but it'll tag along with me. About half way through, he says "Boy this is going really fast". Then we get to the end and take down the Monk boss and priest in record time. He couldn't believe how fast we did it. I then had a nice conversation with him about the power of interrupts, backfire and explained how I didn't let the enemy spellcasters get may spells off, and the ones that did were usually under Backfire and taking 100+ points of damage per spell. Even the warriors and rangers would get empathy and have their healing stopped with CoF. It was at this point my friend realized the usefulness of the mighty Mesmer and ended up creating one himself.

Morale of the story: You really need to play a Mesmer to appreciate a Mesmer

I've been playing for over a year and just started a Mez myself for the first time. I've got to agree. What a blast to play! They're much more powerful than I imagined. I took the slow road and started in Tyria because, frankly, I still love Tyria more than Cantha, plus I get all those cool skills through quests. I'm having more fun playing GW than I have in a long, long time.

Edit to add --> Thanks to everyone for posting builds and helpful hints. I really felt lost when I first started my Mez.

Usually form up in War Camp (International District), every Thursday. The time of the event last week was 1:30 p.m. (EST). Hope that helps.

I cackle quite a bit to myself when I play my Mesmer - I think you're right - you need to be a total nut-job to do it properly!!

Yeah, mesmer is the hardest to play, but if you know how to do it, then you will always have a smile on your face. It's just pure fun to see, how the monsters kill themselves.

The question is whats more amusing.

Enfeebling Blood and SS on 3 Skeleton Berserkers as they surround you. Or Backfire on an Ether Breaker as it deals 441 damage to itself in 3 seconds

I choose answer c) Knowing that the above caster let 3 berserkers surround them
